Thalassa2 was built from December 2019 to May 2021 at the Ice Yachts shipyard in Salvirola (CR). She is the number one of the new ICE70 model and has been supervised from the design stage by the Owner's Trustee Commander. It was judged the most elegant boat at the Cannes Boat Show 2021. The Owner personally chose the boat's furnishings, finishes, and accessories; the result is a fast, nautical, elegant and spacious boat. The choice of having only three cabins on board, a master cabin with a large double bed, a VIP cabin with two twin beds, and a third cabin for the crew, allows for ample dinette space, ideally divided into a dining/relaxation saloon and TV lounge. The aft galley is separated from the dinette by a sliding door, and is communicating with the crew cabin so that the entire aft area can be isolated to avoid disturbing the guests' and owner's relaxation. Her hull is made of a hybrid material composed of 70% GRP and 30% carbon, while the structure and deck reinforcements are full carbon for absolute hull rigidity. A powerful and silent 195 Hp Yanmar 4LV195 engine can propel her at over 11 knots and allows a respectable cruising speed. Equipped with a MaxSpare Carbon mast with Furling Boom and the brand new Doyle sails with Stratis and CableLess technology the boat performs magnificently under sail while remaining easy to handle with a smaller crew.
The on-board electronics and home automation control of the systems are just the icing on a very tasty cake. In the dinette, a 24-inch mega-screen controls the entire life of the boat, while on the exterior consoles two 12-inch screens make navigation and data reading safe and easy.
Thalassa2 was not born with racing in mind, so no repeaters were installed on the mast, choosing to place them on the leg of the cockpit table for better reading and easy and visible management of all the data. It is also for this reason that the boat is equipped not only with a large and comfortable Sprayhood but also with a fixed Bimini (which can be removed with simple operations) that protects the cockpit and therefore the seats and table from the sun and weather. The boat has a large sail locker, equipped by the skipper with supports and "beds" for equipment and sails, and a large Hangar Garage that houses an Aermarine aluminium keel dinghy with a 20Hp motor, which is as easy to dock as it is to retrieve with an electric winch. The interior is elegant and spacious: the owner's cabin in the bow has been insulated to make it soundproof from the rest of the boat. In addition to a large double bed, with plenty of storage underneath, it has a desk with a bookcase, two wardrobes and a large bathroom with a separate shower divided by glass doors. The guest cabin with two wide twin beds also has a bathroom with separate shower, again divided by a glass door. The two bathrooms, owner's and VIP, are furnished with a heater that guarantees comfort even in winter while drying the towels. The dinette is vast; ideally divided into a dining/aperitif area with a teak table with carbon inlays and electrically adjustable height legs, it has a large sofa that can also be used as a bed when sailing, or can be converted into a reading sofa. A lounge separated in height from the dinette is dedicated to TV entertainment. The galley, separated from the dinette by a beautiful sliding/swinging door, is equipped with everything you would want at home: an induction hob, which can also be used while sailing as it can be tilted and controlled with the on-board inverter, with a ventilated combi oven and microwave. Two large fridges overhang a freezer where stocks can be kept for a long time. An ice-maker and a small but functional dishwasher complete the package. Coffee machine and accessories are housed in large lockers and cabinets with glass doors, and the worktop is in Corian. The crew cabin is symmetrical to the galley and communicates with it. The construction philosophy was to create a crew area that is completely isolated from the dinette so as to favour the privacy of the owner and guests. The crew cabin has a single bed, and a second pull-out bed for sailing needs. Bathroom in the cabin. There is also a fourth daytime bathroom accessible from the dinette where, in addition to a wardrobe wardrobe, there is room for waxed, even wet ones. All bathrooms are equipped with electric toilets with built-in bidets.
The boat is CE compliant and therefore equipped with black and grey water collection boxes. A powerful 12 KVA Mase generator and a 24V desalinator that produces 150 litres per hour of fresh water complete the on-board equipment.
Given the boat's length, manoeuvring is aided by a powerful bow thruster and an equally effective stern thruster to make mooring manoeuvres easy and safe.
